Dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteAs you probably know, things are not the same around here, without you. The house feels a little bit lonely without you. Rowdy hates me now, because I am going to Reardan. I miss him, too. I am trying to make new friends there. There is this boy, who is a total nerd, named Gordy. Yeah, I know, he has a funny name, but still. He is really smart, and tutors me. Also, I think I am in love with this girl, Penelope. She is hot, and is amazing. But enough about me, let’s talk about you. You got to ride a horse?!?!?! That is amazing. I wish I could ride a horse, it sounds like a lot of fun. It sounds like you are really content with your lot. I am happy for you, but I wish you could come down for Thanksgiving. It would be a lot better with you around. I love you, Mary. I hope you stay happy.
Your Little Brother,
Arnold "Junior"
Dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you got out of the basement and did something with your life, but to leave without telling us was terrible. I always wanted to ride a horse, it sounds really fun. I think it’s cool that the white people and scared of the Indians there instead of vise versa. Mom and Dad think your husband is kind of ugly, they say he has a hooked nose. They also think you married him because he plays cards. I hope you come and visit soon.
Love you,
Junior
Dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are having a wonderful time up in Montana. But why did you pack up and leave all of a sudden, you know us Indian families always stay together? Anyways, my life has gotten a little better recently. I made friends with a boy named Gordy at Reardan. He is the smartest kid I know and is really weird. He helps me in school a lot a taught me how to work hard and the joy of completing something. I hope you keep having a great time and keep in touch with me.
You’re Brother,
Junior

Dear Mary:
I’m happy for you and I am glad you like it there in Montana but why did you leave the Indians are supposed to stay together within the same area. Also I know what you mean about the white people there is a lot at my new school. I have already made new friends in Reardon and have earned respect. I like it at times here at my new school but I just feel really lonely most of the time and I can’t just go back to the rez. It was good talking to you.
Love Junior
