THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GET RUN OVER AND KILLED BY A DRUNK DRIVER! (Alexie 160)
ReplyDeleteArnold is saying this as a result of his grandmother being ran over by a drunk driver, and shortly passing away afterwards. He says that those who live to such an old age should not be killed for such a dumb reason. He believes that they should pass away peacefully, and of old age. He is angry, as the capital letters imply. He is angry at the driver, at his grandmother, at his parents, and at the world.
"But my family had to bury my grandmother. I mean , it's natural to bury your grandmother. Grandparents are supposed to die first, but they're supposed to die of old age. They're supposed to die of a heart attack or a stroke or of cancer or of Alzheimer's.THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GET RUN OVER AND KILLED BY A DRUNK DRIVER!"(PG158) In this paragraph Arnold is talking about how his grandmother was killed by a drunk driver and he is very sad but he also is mad that this is the way she ended up dieing and that she had to bury her in the ground.
ReplyDelete“But I’d learned there are NO FOULS CALLED IN FULLCOURT ONE-ON-ONE, so I grabbed the loose ball and raced for my end again”(pg 141). In this section Junior is talking about basketball try outs when he had to play one-on-one against Rodger. Junior feels angry when he says this because he’s getting fouled a bunch and can’t do anything about it. You know he is angry because he says a section in the quote in all capital letters.
ReplyDelete“NO FOULS CALLED IN FULLCOURT ONE-ON-ONE.” (Pg 141)
ReplyDeleteJunior talks about how there is no fouls called in One on One. So junior plays dirty as he can to try to join the team in try outs. Junior fouls a lot on Roger but Roger was fouled a lot.
THERE ARE NO FOULS IN FULL COURT ONE ON ONE (Alexie pg. 141
ReplyDeleteWhen Junior fouls roger and nothing happens, he realizes that there are no fouls on full court one on one. So Junior plays dirty so he has a better chance on joining the team.
