  1. I agreed with Misti’s idea of conformation.
One idea that I chose to consider was of how easy that Arnold was to make fun of. It never occurred to me that his situation was only made worse by how he viewed himself, as well as others.
My big takeaway was that culture and society affect you, by labeling you, stereotyping you, and influencing your decisions, for better or for worse.

    1. I agree with your big takeaway because if you hang around the wrong people or the right people long enough it will just become a natural occurance and it will literally change that persons lifestyle.

  2. 1. I agree with the idea that Abby brough up a about what defines an outsider. I agree because Arnold is the only Indian at an all white school.

    2. A idea i came up with during the discussion is that Arnold had it rough with three family members dieing and being made fun of every day he just needs to show them that he is better than everybody sees him out to be.

    3. a question that came up for me durring the discusion was why did Arnold keep pushing on about the new school, why did he take it to such heart.

    4. my big takeaway was that being labeled or stereotyped can effect you in a very big way, and what you are exposed to growing up can also effect who you will really become in the future.

  3. 1. I agree that people around you influence who you are.

    2. One thing I've never thought about is that society sometimes make other rebel instead of trying to fit in.

    3. A question I have is does peer pressure really benefit you?

    4. The big takeaway I got was that society tends to influence who people want to be.

    2. I also agree with your big takeaway because it is common for people to conform to society, because everyone wants to fit in.

    3. I Agree with your takeaway because without society we would be happy and not trying to fit in and make the outcasts feel terrible.
